劇情：
IntheUS,therearenowsixstatesthatoffertheterminallyilltheoptionofendingtheirliveswithaprescribedcocktailofdrugs.LouisheadstoCalifornia,oneofthelateststatestoadoptthislaw,whereresidentscannowtakehomealethaloverdoseaslongastheyareterminallyill,ofsoundmindandstrongenoughtoadministertheirownprescribeddose.Here,Louisisinvitedintothefamilyhomesofthosewhowantcontroloverendingtheirownlives.Buthediscoversthatwhenyouhavecompleteautonomyoveryourowndeath,choosingtherighttimeisnotsuchasimpledecision.Louisalsomeetsagroupwhoprovideinformationabouthowtodietothosewhodon’tfitthelegalcriteria.Withthem,hemeetsawomanplanningtoendherlifelongbeforewhatwouldappeartobehernaturaltime,raisingcomplexmoralandlegalquestionsabouthowmuchcontrolweshouldhaveoverourowndeaths.
